Historical Fiction Bestsellers: Week of Nov. 24

The following titles are shown in order of appearance from
USA Today's Top 150:

  The Help  Water for Elephants

The Valcourt Heiress  Sarah’s Key  The Dovekeepers

The Night Circus  Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children  Legacy

The Paris Wife: A Novel  A Lone Star Christmas  A Winter Scandal

These are the books I consider to fall under the large umbrella of the historical fiction genre. Twelve books out of 150. That's four less than last week, and a far cry from the impressive genre presence of twenty in the top 150 six weeks ago. Biographies and inspirationals got a boost, I'm chalking it up to the holiday gift-giving season. But historical fiction makes a great gift, too!

As always, write for yourself, but it never hurts to keep an eye on what's selling in today's market, and to take a look at what these authors are doing right!
